After winging it a few times — and then making messy notes or random spreadsheets for each trip — we realized it was time to create one smart, reusable template that actually works. That’s why we put together this easy-to-use travel budget spreadsheet to help you plan your next adventure with less stress and more clarity.
How to Get Started With The Template?
Just click on the above image or Get My Template button, which will open the preview. From there, click Use Template in the top corner, which will copy the template to your Google Drive and you’re ready to start editing!
Just start changing and adding expenses from row 18 and if you need to, you can always add more rows at the bottom of the spreadsheet. We have prefilled a few of the expenses as an example.
Total Budget
Make sure to set your own total budget in cell B6, which is the amount you are willing to spend on your trip.
Useful tip: It’s good practice to have about 5-10% of your total budget remaining. This comes in handy in emergencies and gives you some leeway to not stress about a strict budget during your travels!

We added 6 categories that we usually use and should cover most budgeting needs. However the categories are fully customizable.
To edit categories, go to the Categories sheet and start adding new categories from B11 or change the existing ones in column B.
